I love Maison Ikkoku. I read the manga first. My sister got a couple of manga volumes -the original flipped oversized version-and I read them. After that, I bought the rest of the series. After finishing the last volume, I admit that I had tears reading the last chapters.
Since then, I’ve purchased the entire series on DVD box set when VIZ release the series several years ago. When VIZ released the Maison Ikkoku manga in its original unflipped form, I purchased the series again. Such a great sitcom drama.
Who would have thought Siskel & Ebert rated Roujin Z a “Pick of the Week” ?
I wonder why VIZ didn’t maintain content on their best named website – J-pop.com? They could have out Tokyopopped Tokyopop (See 1998)
Animerica had a cute contest this month. You had to create a name for a Cabbit. Ryo-Oh-Ki needs a friend. I would have named my cabbit “Karl”

The Manga ad has a lot of the locations for the Ghost In The Shell theatrical premiere. Manga hyped this series for over a year before it’s release. That’s impressive. The ad also shared space with their new series Mad Bull.
The award for “Worst Retail Trade Ad” goes to Central Park Media.
Next is one of the few Streamline Pictures ads. This one if for their Casshan Robot Hunter and Babel II. These ads made me remember how much of a craze phone cards use to be.
