The Suncoast “Action Packed Anime” ad is the quintessential mid 90′s ad design scheme. Full page starburst with lots of primary colors. It’s like they are channeling “Saved By The Bell”
1st Streamline Pictures and Orion Home Video ad – features Barefoot Gen.
Next up is the first SoftCel ad with the logo on the ad page. Quite the coincidence that the company address on this ad is the same for the ADV ad for MAPS. The copy head line for New Angel has gone above and beyond for pervyness. Wow.
In 1995 you would be king/queen otaku at your school if you used the Ranma 1/2 Organizer.
Notepad, pen, daily diary, address book and 2 pages of stickers! Just don’t get it wet.
Pioneer’s ad is better this month still lacks in design sense, but that’s ok. The Magical Girl Pretty Sammy OVA pic is fun. If anyone has a copy of a Pioneer Anime Newsletter – please let me know – @ me on Twitter.
I am really surprised ADV did not do any pervy copy for this MAPS ad, seems they used it all up in the SoftCel ad.
Manga Entertainment needs to decide what title they want to advertise because calling them all out in one ad does not work.
I scanned the ANIMEXPRESS page to showcase Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball US broadcast news. Nude transformations and Goku’s twig and berries get a mention on the four letter word of TV anime fans – EDIT. Notice that FUNimation is Silicon-Valley based. The company moved to Texas a few years later.
